The Waterson Family
The Waterson Family's last concert was billed as ' THE folk event of the decade' so this follow up gig has got a lot to live up to. Mind you that was back in May 07 and a lot has happened since then.
For a start Eliza has recently become a mum. (Congratulations) There's no news as to Florence making her festival debut, the Water Granddaughter, even so this is a set likely to enter the annuls of folk history.
Together and apart the Watersons, especially when combined with the Carthys, have long been considered to be the first family of English folk and with good reason.
The Watersons have not only played their role in safeguarding English folk music, making sure songs survive and are heard, they have also contributed massively to the canon, ensuring that it hasn't become a museum piece, but remained a living and thriving tradition.
It will be standing room only for this one, people are already licking lips in anticipation. With so many great songwriters and performers on stage, everyone's a winner, especially the audience.
